Ingredients

  • 3 medium potatoes (I am using russet)
  • 1.3ml of garlic powder/ granulated garlic (1/3 teaspoon of garlic powder)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 15ml (1 1/2 tablespoon) of oil of choice (I love using avocado oil because it has a high smoke point). Coconut also works well.

Instructions

  1. Using a mandolin, cut the potatoes into French fries. I don't care too much about the size of the fries I make, some are bigger and some are smaller.
  2. Then put the potatoes in a cold water bath. Immerse the fries completely in the water.
  3. Leave the fries for an hour. This helps remove excess starch and helps crispy oven fries.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 400 °F (200 ° C).
  5. After an hour, drain the water and pat dry with paper towels.
  6. Mix with a few tablespoons of olive oil, salt and pepper.
  7. Add the fries to the bottom of the frying basket making sure they are all level (do not stack on top of each other).
  8. Bake 13 minutes, until crispy and golden.
  9. Place on a paper towel lined baking sheet and wire rack.
  10. Place in a hot oven (at a minimum temperature, no more than 250 degrees) and let stand while the rest of the fries cook.
  11. Serve hot and enjoy.
